One Pager

ManDeerThing : The Video Game


Overview



Introduction
ManDeerThing is a parkour style game based in the forest. The ManDeerThing is a mythical resident of the forest who is being chased by a group of angry hunters.
He runs through a 3D endless runner style game while jumping and climbing through the varying environment. The hunters will try and traps him if he isn't careful, so the player will need to jump and climb out of the way. The traps will be silly and quite comical at times.

Game Structure

Controls
The level and the camera are constantly scrolling and the player does not have control over that aspect of the game, although in later levels he will be able to speed up to avoid certain traps and jump farther.
The player will control the jumping of the ManDeerThing as well as the direction that he jumps. He will also be able to move left and right to miss various traps. The player will also be able to control certain triggers that if timed correctly will change certain parts of the environment to add new paths and access different areas.
The game is set up in levels and each level becomes progressively more difficult as the character will be required to navigate more difficult terrain including cliffs, trees, rocks, waterfalls, etc.



Actions
Movement - The ManDeerThing is constantly running through the level and he cannot move backward. The player has no control over this. The player will be able to move left and right as well as control when he jumps, and his speed while running.

Triggers - User action will be used to set off a trap or gag within the game. The player will have to provide input while the ManDeerThing is going to a specific piece of the environment.

The Traps will be very cartoons like Rayman Legend

Level Structure
Levels will be built in series similar to angry birds where each level series begins with an intro followed by levels with similar environments. After completing a level series a new intro will play leading into a new setting and story.
The first level series will be in the forest, but later level series could be in various locations including a zoo, or a laboratory. TheManDeerThing will always be trying to escape the people chasing him and avoid new traps and gags to stop him.


Backgrounds should be cartoony and Abstract

Scoring
Level Points
As the ManDeerThing runs through the level points will be determined by time to complete a level. The fastest times on each level with be shown on high score board.
Sixty Seconds of Play

The level opens up to an intro and a group of hunters is sitting around a campfire bragging to each other about the deer they hunted. A twig snaps in the woods and the hunters immediately become alert. Through the trees a creature half man/half deer peers at them. One of the hunters grabs his rifle and shouts, “Get that ManDeerThing!”
At this point the game becomes playable and the ManDeerThing goes running away through the woods, dodging trees, climbing over rocks, running through trees and setting off traps until he reaches the end of the level.
